Roby Chatterji is a legislative associate at Washington Partners. He helps manage the publications Washington Partners produces and conducts research and analysis on behalf of clients. Prior to joining Washington Partners, Roby worked as a member of the Center for Digital Learning and Policy at the Alliance for Excellent Education where he helped manage the 2015 Digital Learning Day as well as the national Future Ready Schools campaign. Additionally, he worked at the Federal Communications Commission on the modernization order for the Universal Service Program for Schools and Libraries, more commonly known as E-rate, increasing broadband services and wireless capability to schools and libraries throughout the nation.
Prior to working in education policy, Roby taught in public schools through the Teach for America program. He taught 5th grade for two years in the Roosevelt School District in Phoenix, Arizona and also coached soccer and led the Boy Scout program at his school. He also taught English abroad through the International Volunteer Headquarters program in Cusco, Peru for 6 months. Both of these experiences helped cement Roby’s desire to work in the education field and help advocate for policies and solutions that improve access to high quality education.
Roby earned his Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, his Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
